Job profile Board member Tomatoworld Foundation

Job title: Board member (including financial - legal with understanding of major grant programmes)

Responsibilities:

1. Strategic vision: To actively contribute to the development and implementation of a strategic vision for the transformation of Tomatoworld into a field lab, with a focus on promoting innovation in connectivity, AI, data and robotics in the horticultural sector.
2. Advocacy: Representing the interests of the funds and funders supporting the development and implementation of new technologies within Tomatoworld and ensuring effective communication between the board and fund representatives.
3. Financial steering: Working with the board and management to ensure sound financial management of the foundation, including approving budgets, monitoring financial performance and taking action to ensure sustainable growth.
4. Monitoring and evaluation: Overseeing:
   • the implementation of projects within the field lab,
   • the timely delivery of financial and content accountability of these projects, and
   • regularly evaluating the progress, performance and impact of these projects, and making adjustments where necessary to achieve the set goals
5. Attending board meetings: Attending board meetings (±8 times a year) and actively participating in discussions, decision-making and strategic planning within the board.

Required skills and qualifications:

1. Affinity within the horticulture sector with a focus on financial - legal matters.
2. A proven track record in successfully leading change processes within organisations, with specific experience in transformations from traditional structures to more innovative and technology-driven systems.
3. A clear understanding of trends and developments within the horticultural sector relevant to Tomatoworld's objectives as a field lab.
4. An entrepreneurial spirit with the willingness and ability to take risks, identify opportunities and develop innovative solutions that contribute to the success of Tomatoworld as a fieldlab.

Training requirements:

At least a completed college education, financial, legal or a related field. With experience in the field of horticulture.

Personal qualities:

1. A strong passion for innovation and technological advancement within the horticultural sector.
2. A results-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving measurable objectives and delivering value for both investors and the companies and organisations involved.
3. A proactive and solution-oriented approach with the ability to respond quickly to changing conditions and challenges within the horticulture sector.
